Recover Data From Compaq Desktop PCs

COMPAQ EVO D500:

I have a Compaq Evo 500 which is putting up a serious message, Error NTLDR Missing on Hard Drive. It is not allowing me to install Windows XP on a new system. I have formatted the hard drive which was once part of a laptop, so it should be able to read the information on it, but for some reason that is the only message it is giving me. What happens is that I put in the Windows XP boot CD, and I get that error message instead of the CD being read and used. I have tried reinstalling Windows, as this message was constantly appearing, but I don’t know what to do next. I also went into BIOS and tried to change the boot device so that it would read the CD, and still got the identical error message.

COMPAQ EVO D500:

I am having a little bit of a problem with a Compaq EVO D500. It is not able to provide me with any more details apart from repeating over and over that the Windows\sys\config\missing. It sometimes includes other lines of letters and numbers in between Config and missing, but it all amounts to the same problem. Each time I try to boot up Windows, it tells me that I need to reinstall it, and then to click R in order to repair the system. I have not updated anything recently, and there have been no major changes.
