Retrieve Data From A Lenovo Desktop PC

LENOVO THINKCENTRE M57:

I am using a Lenovo ThinkCentre M57 which is running well, but has stopped me from downloading or uploading items from the desktop files. I can’t put things onto the computer from the internet, for example, and I am not able to play videos which are already in the system folders. The computer just gives a couple of beeps, and then freezes up. After a while, the computer goes blank, and there is no response from the tower, although both power and hard drive lights are on. I can see a message on the screen which says ‘No connection’, but that is referring to the whole computer. The problem also happens if I try to put one of the files, perhaps a music file, onto an external system such as an iPod. The computer will freeze again.

LENOVO THINKCENTRE M57:

I don’t know where else to turn with this problem. I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre which is not working as I want it to when I ask it to read video and audio files from my drive. I can see the file that I want to use, and I can click on it and start the program, but if I stop the file, and shut down the player, when I do back into the folder to find the file again, it has completely gone. It is as though I am asking the computer to ‘play then discard’ the files, which is very much what I don’t want to happen. Does anyone know the answer to this problem, or can they offer me a solution to this data loss? I actually work in the music industry, and editing music and video is my job, so losing all these files is a bit of a disaster for me. Some of them are copies of videos which don’t have a backup, and which were loaded from CDs which the computer now won’t read.
