Client had a Synology DiskStation which stated that it needed to be formatted. Client tried to run a data recovery software against the Synology DiskStation but could not recover any data from the Synology DiskStation. When client tries to connect to Synology DiskStation through disk management utility in Windows it reported an I/O error.
We received in Synology DiskStation and diagnosed that the Synology DiskStation was a Raid 5 system with 4 disks. The 1st disk had a software failure and thus was the reason why the system would not connect to any computers. We removed the 4 disks and imaged all sectors on disks and processed the Raid dataset for a full recovery. We completed this job within 2 days.
