Redditch, B97 and B98 · covered
Redditch data recovery. A town that made most of the world's needles — now it all sits on disks.
Redditch was designated a new town on 10 April 1964 and built around its roads: the only cloverleaf junction in England sits here, and people give directions by district. What it makes stayed precise — aerospace forgings at Mettis on Windsor Road, the systems behind Halfords' four hundred and sixty-five stores run out of Washford, engineering firms with one server and nothing offsite. When it fails it goes to the Manchester lab by tracked post, and the first look is free.

No match here? Run the triage →| What you see | Why we see it here | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A NAS at a small engineering firm that will not mount | One box on the shop floor, and nothing copied offsite | Power it down and send the disks with the bays labelled |
| The single office machine that died over the weekend | Small units on the estates run one PC for a decade or more | We do the data; IT does the box |
| An external drive with the whole job archive on it | The only copy there has ever been, and it goes everywhere | The commonest parcel to reach this bench |
| A two-bay mirror that has quietly run on one disk | A mirror conceals a dead member until the other goes | Both disks are imaged before anything is rebuilt |
| A laptop dropped in a car park that now clicks | Kit carried between sites all week takes knocks and drops | Turn it off and leave it off; restarts do damage |
A Redditch job, from the parcel to the return.
Four questions we get from Redditch.
Which parts of Redditch do you cover?
All of B97 and B98, district by district: Church Hill, Matchborough, Winyates, Greenlands and Woodrow, plus the older parts — Webheath, Headless Cross and Astwood Bank. The town was laid out so each district stands on its own; the courier reaches them all the same way.
Our array holds AS9100 records. Does recovery break the trail?
No. Every disk is imaged read-only and the work is done on the copies, so the originals go home as they arrived. You get a fixed written price first and a checked list of what came back and what did not afterwards, which is what an auditor asks to see. Every job here runs that way.
A rebuild started on our NAS and has stalled. Stop it?
Yes — power it down. A rebuild reads every sector of the surviving members, which is exactly the load a tired disk fails under, so a stalled rebuild can leave the set worse than the fault that began it. Take the disks out, label the bay order, and send them. A NAS may also travel whole.
How should a drive be packed for the post from B98?
Stop it moving inside the box. An anti-static bag first if you have one, then firm padding on every face, and the original packaging if it still exists. Send it tracked, insure it for full value, and slip a printed shipping form in next to the drive. The posting page walks through it, and the parcel home is paid.
