Our patch · Solihull

Data recovery in Solihull. Three quarters green belt; the rest builds Range Rovers and hosts Crufts.

Solihull is a borough of two halves and one motorway. The M42 runs J4 to J6 past Blythe Valley Park, Birmingham Business Park, the NEC and the airport, with Lode Lane turning out Range Rovers a mile off it; then there is Knowle, Dorridge and Balsall Common, where the work happens in a spare room. What reaches us follows that split — CAD and CNC files from tier-two suppliers, arrays out of business-park server rooms, camera media off show stands, and one portable disk holding thirty years of photographs. None of it needs a car. The diagnosis is free and the figure that follows is written down.

Sending it by post: post it to the intake lab fully insured and tracked, with the shipping form tucked in beside the drive; the journey home is on us. Packing is set out step by step on the posting page.

Before you post from Solihull.

Where a repair shop stopsSwapping a part puts a machine back in service; it does nothing for the disk that stopped. Reading that is a separate trade with separate tools, and a fair number of Solihull Macs arrive here after being told otherwise.
One-off disks get the slow treatmentOn a disk that exists only once, the bench deliberately takes longer: a gentle image before anything else, every result matched against the list you gave us, and nothing attempted that would spend what is left.
When the work has stoppedA firm shut out of its own orders, drawings or ledgers is bleeding money every hour it stays that way. Those cases go to the front, with dates that hold.
Overnight from B90 to B94A tracked parcel handed in at a B90 or B94 counter is normally on the bench by the next working day. Nothing is charged for looking at it, and the trip back is paid.

The seven reviews in full →

I would like to express our high satisfaction in your attention to detail and quality service you offer. The data you recovered from our hard drive was part of a critical project for our company and without that data we would probably be out of business.

Solihull questions, answered.

No Solihull branch — does that count against me?

It does not. The kit that reads a failed disk is expensive and it stays in one place; a counter in every town would only mean less of it in each. Solihull work goes by tracked post to the Manchester intake lab, and the leg back is paid by us.

The repair shop said no. Is that final?

Usually not. Mending a machine and reading a disk that has stopped are two trades with two sets of tools. Plenty of Solihull Macs and laptops reach us the week after somebody said nothing could be done.

How should I pack something irreplaceable?

Pack it like anything else that cannot be replaced. Rigid box, padding on all six faces, nothing rattling about, the shipping form in beside it, and a tracked, insured service. Say which folders matter most and those are opened before the rest.

Is Solihull priced differently?

No. The assessment on arrival costs nothing, one figure goes in writing before anyone opens the disk, and you are free to turn it down. Return postage is in the price whichever way you decide.

Post it from Solihull and get a straight answer.

Keep it powered down and tell us how it happened. Nothing is agreed until the free diagnosis lands.
