Can you get proving-ground test data off a workstation that will not boot?
Usually, yes. Sensor logs, CAD and simulation files sit on ordinary disks and fail the ordinary ways, whatever rig they served. Say which runs the programme is waiting on, and those are read first. If it has begun making an unfamiliar noise, leave it switched off; opening it is bench work.
Do I send the whole server, or take the disks out first?
Both are fine. Post the unit intact and switched off, or draw the disks and send them loose, each carrying the number of the bay it sat in, since that is what the set is rebuilt from. Leave any resync or reslotting alone; the opening pass images the disks read-only, writing nothing back to them.
